generic levitra
Vardenafil, or more popularly known as Levitra, is regarded to be the improvement of Viagra, the drug used to address impotence or erectile dysfunctions in men. Clinical studies show that Levitra works much faster and with reduced side effects compared to Viagra. It was further discovered that Levitra performs better than viagra, with its effects lasting for as long as 12 hours.

An Overview of Levitra

Levitra works by relaxing the muscles of the penis and then allowing an increased blood flow to the organ. Blood flow is essential to achieve and maintain an erection. Levitra is a PDE5 inhibitor. As such, it functions by blocking the action of phosphodiesterase type 5 enzymes in the muscle cells that lines the thin blood vessels situated in the penile area.

Why take Levitra?

Generally speaking, Levitra works like Viagra. It works by blocking the PDE5 enzyme, from working in the smooth muscle cells found in the penis. When the drug begin to function, the penile muscles begin to relax. And as it relaxes, blood flow is dramatically improved. At this condition, and with the necessary sexual stimulation, erection can be easily attained.

Levitra Precautions

It is necessary to consult with your doctor before taking Levitra. Doctors may forewarn patients with past and present medical conditions in taking Levitra. People suffering from penis-related diseases like priapism and fibrosis need to double check with their doctors if Levitra could work for them. Those who are taking nitrate medicines, such as nitroglycerin and isosorbide dinitrate, are advised not to take the drug as well. Patients suffering from heart conditions such as angina, unstable angina, hypertension, and heart attacks cannot use this drug. This is because of the incompatibility with the alpha blockers found in the drugs that they take. Popular examples of these drugs are doxazosin, prazosin, guanadrel, and terazosin.

Likewise, medicines such as indinavir, ritonavir, itraconazole, and ketoconazole cannot be combined with Levitra, as patients run the risk of experiencing harmful side effects. Also, Levitra cannot be taken along with other drugs also meant to address erectile dysfunction like Viagra. This drug is not compatible with the elements found in grapefruit juice.

Proper Dosage

Generally speaking, doctors recommend a dosage of 20 milligrams, administered at least 24 hours apart. Levitra is supposed to be taken only if necessary. Some doctors would even recommend a 72-hour interval to certain patients.

This drug is expected to work approximately 25 to 60 minutes after taking it, although there are testimonies about Levitra working in as fast as 15 minutes. Levitra is supposed to be taken orally, around 45 minutes prior to the sexual activity. Patients should be reminded that Levitra only enhances erection. It cannot achieve erection on its own. Sexual stimulation is required for the drug to work.

Overdose

Overdose of Levitra may happen if the patient fails to strictly follow the doctor's prescription. All drugs, when abused, may cause harm to the patient. It is advised that an immediate medical consultation should be in order for cases of Levitra overdose. Adverse health condition may be experienced, ranging from severe to critical. The common symptoms of Levitra overdose are nausea, hives, swelling of the limbs, confusion, difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath, and blurred vision.

There is no harm in missing a dose of Levitra. Levitra is supposed to be taken only as necessary. Patients need not follow a routine. In rare cases that a dose is missed, patients are advised not make up for it. There is no noted harm when missing a dose. Patients should be more concerned of abusing the product.

Side Effects

Levitra, like any other drug, may produce possible side effects. However, these side effects only show on selected patients, not all of them. The common effect of Levitra is a slowed and weakened breathing process. Some people complain difficulty in breathing and shortness of breath.

There is also a link connecting Levitra to eyesight problems. Some patients report that they start to see a temporary blue tint in their vision after a certain period of time taking the drug. And most of the time, the experience is coupled with the feeling of drowsiness and lightheadedness.

Other health conditions associated to Levitra are fatigue, tiredness, abdominal pain, unusual bleeding and other blood problems, bruising, leg pains, dry mouth, and weakness of the muscle. Most of the side effects listed here are the body's normal reaction to the drug. However, whenever any of these problems became serious, chronic, or unbearable, patients should seek medical attention immediately.

Storage

Levitra should be stored at room temperature, preferably between 15 and 30 degrees Celcius (59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit). Keep the drug away from light and moisture. Exposure to elements may make the drug unusable. Put the drug in a high place, out of children's reach.
